PAST ACTIVITIES IN 2010
AUG We enjoyed sharing lunch and the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" with some good friends and their friends.
JUL We met at Mary Jo Longo's house to help the Queen Mother prepare for her daughter's wedding.
Later in the month we went back to Mary Jo's for some wedding lasagna (hmmmm good!) and to see
the movie "Freedom Writers."
JUN We met at Mary Jo Longo's home to watch "The Namesake," a story about a first generation
American trying to find his own identity somewhere between his parent's homeland, Bengali,
and the sometimes baffling US culture. For more information see the official "Namesake"

APR We watched Bill Moyers DVD "Amazing Grace, the History of a Song."
We greeted the preschooler's parents with coffee and baked goodies.
MAR To supplement our reading of "Outcasts United," we watched a movie, "The Letter," a true story
about the people of a small town in Maine and how they responded to racist fears following the rapid
influx of many Somali immigrants.
JAN Annual brunch at the Rancho Bernardo Inn.

NOV FIELD TRIP Dream Dinners Meal Preparation - 9 meals in two hours!
NOV MOVIE: "Amelia," the story of the pilot Amelia Earhart.
SEP FIELD TRIP to prepare our future meals at Dream Dinners in Poway.
AUG MOVIE: "The Time Traveler's Wife" followed by lunch and comparison of this movie with
"Somewhere in Time."

JUL "Poems from the Women's Movement" by Honor Moore
JUL MOVIE: Brief discussion of the movie, "My Sister's Keeper," followed by viewing
the movie, "Seven Years in Tibet."
JUL FIELD TRIP - We toured the beautiful gardens at the Self Realization Temple,
939 2nd St, Encinitas, CA. (No admission fee–donations are appreciated.) While there,
we discussed "Poems from the Women's Movement," stopped for lunch, and returned
by mid-afternoon.
